The objective of this workshop was to define the needs of the US Coast Guard and facilitate the use of risk-based technologies in the Coast Guard operations toward the realization of its goals for marine safety, security, and environmental protection. The needs were identified from the workshop participants (Coast Guard) working with engineers from industry, government, and academia. A combination of presentations and discussions over the course of two days, the workshop topics included: certification and compliance codes, specifications and regulations inspection and testing management and burden
