Roger G. Harrison received his BS degree in chemical engineering from the University of Oklahoma and his MS and PhD degrees in chemical engineering at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Before joining the University of Oklahoma, he worked for the Upjohn Company in fermentation R&D development. He also worked for the Phillips Petroleum Company in the biotechnology R&D division.
His work at Upjohn and Phillips focused on bioseparations. He is first author with three co-authors of the textbook Bioseparations Science and Engineering, published by Oxford University Press in 2003.
This text is designed for juniors, seniors, and graduate students and to date has been adopted for courses at 34 universities in the U.S. and 5 universities outside of the U.S. He is also the editor of the book Protein Purification Process Engineering (Marcel Dekker, 1993).
His research at the University of Oklahoma has focused on the engineering, expression, and purification of recombinant proteins produced in Escherichia coli bacteria. His current research is concentrated on recombinant proteins for cancer and cardiovascular applications.
Dr. Harrison is currently an Associate Professor for the School of Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering at the University of Oklahoma.
